Todas las tardes (every evening: "all the evenings") iban de paseo el monarca y el principito (the monarch and the little prince went for a walk; ir — to go) hasta la Fuente del Arenal (to the Fountain of the Sands; arenalm — sandy area).

La Fuente del Arenal estaba situada (the Fountain of the Sands was situated; estar) en el centro de los jardines (in the middle: "in the centre" of the gardens) de un palacio abandonado (of an abandoned palace; abandonar), en el que (in which) se decía (it was said; decir) que vivían tres brujas (lived: "that lived" three witches), llamadas (called; llamar — to call; llamarse — to be called) Mauregata, Gundemara y Espinarda (Mauregata, Gundemara and Espinarda).
